The first exercise from this lesson was a Cartoon discussion
We sat in mixed groups. We discussed about the cartoon en this was our sentence:
- What’s wrong with you? Did you got the wrong foot out of the bed this morning ?
Than we mixed again the groups en we discussed each sentence from the groups:
- Whit us long arms, en your long legs we can take the bananas.
- Accept him but he is so freaky different so we can’t
- Auw fat guy evolution
- What’s wrong with him
Real meaning from the cartoon:
George, we have tried too accept you but you are to different!
What have I learned from this exercice?
If you work in different cultures, you must properly organized.
If the teacher does not, then we always work with the people we already know. There is no talk here about getting acquainted with different cultures.
In the classpractice:
Some examples:
- form a line by nationality and then the teacher said a number
- Working with diversity with children
- On one line and the kids to understand that there are differences by reading aloud a few sentences and then a step forward to establish or one step back out once they agree or disagree.

My opinion
I like the idea that they work very close with the parents. If you go to visit the websites of Belgian schools, you find very often (if not always) that the school works closely with parents.
Exempels from Belgium schools:
- Reading mum/dad/ grand Parent
- A lot of moments that the teacher has a appointment with the parents
- When there is art class there is sometimes a parent who comes to help the teacher
- The parents and teachers likes this very much!!!
